Over the years Nintendo has made a name for itself as the “kid-friendly gaming console”. Well, this is not the story anymore; other companies are soon catching up with the Japanese games maker. Other gaming giants and especially PlayStation from Sony have made significant strides when it comes to making kids friendly gaming consoles. PlayStation has games like Little Big Planet, Knack 2, Ratchet, and Clank which have been developed keeping young gamers in mind. But there is one big problem with this; the gaming console had a design which is not suitable for children and their small hands. The controller looks to be designed better for adults as compared to children.
So now the company has kept the needs of young gamers in mind and come up with a new kind of controller. Hori designed a new and better PlayStation 4 controller, especially for kids. The new Mini Wired Gamepad is roughly 40 percent smaller than the original DualShock 4 controller. Interestingly the new controller comes in a simpler form much like the Super Nintendo. The new controller comes packed with control sticks, shoulder buttons, directional keys and actions keys. Even with no inbuilt touchpad, a lot of its inputs can be replicated with the left or right sticks.
The mini controller is totally wired to ease its setup. The ease of playing games is a lot now. Imagine gaming as easy as plugging in a 10-foot cable. Though there is a long list of features that make the new gamepad more family friendly, some of the old features are absent. Now, this has posed a serious risk as the console becomes incompatible with a few games. The features missing this time are a touchpad, light bar, stereo headset jack, speaker, vibration, and motion sensing. Famous games like Tearaway Unfolded have become completely unplayable in the new console due to the missing of certain features. Though the game is designed keeping children in mind it lacks a few older features. The light bar and motion controls lack to pack a punch.
Hori has made a name for itself over the last decade. The company has been valued as the big player when it comes to third-party video game accessories. The company’s accessories and credits date back as old as to the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Hori has managed to provide gamers with affordable alternatives when the first party controllers became more multifarious and costly. The company has earned a name for itself among gamers for making niche and game specific controllers. Apart from standard and regular controllers, the company produces custom controllers specially designed for fighting games, and arcade games.
Hori developed PC-like controls with wired keypads and mice. Hori is the name gamers can trust while looking for a great controller which is both cheap and useful. Hori’s Mini Wired Gamepad is set to launch in the United States and Canada in the holiday season of 2017. The gaming industry is set for a boom during the Christmas and New Year break. The console will be launched at blue colour prices at roughly about $30.
