To inaugurate the 23rd edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival , Amitabh Bachchan was in Kolkata last weekend. While Big B was on his way to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport, the front wheels of his car came off. The car was stopped immediately, and Big B was at once rushed to Mr. Mukherjee’s car, the state minister of West Bengal, which was also following them from behind with whom he was travelling in an agency-hired Mercedes. After Big B was taken to Mr. Mukherjee’s car, they were then dropped at the airport. The car he was travelling in was an agency-hired Mercedes. A legal notice has already been sent to the travel agency who was in charge of Big B’s transportation on his Kolkata’s tour.
The wheels of Mercedes in which Big B was travelling on the left rear-end got detached when he was crossing Dufferin Road while going to airport to board his flight for Mumbai on Saturday morning. The car in which he was travelling was provided by a travel agency, and while investigating about the incident, it was found that the “certificate of fitness” of the car had expired.
Several other film industry biggies like Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Kamal Haasan and Mahesh Bhatt had also joined Big B on the inaugural day of the Kolkata International Film Festival. The star guests were welcomed by Mamta Banarjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal. Big B shared the photos on Twitter saying “Inaugurating KIFF, the International Film Festival” in Kolkata. He also tweeted, “the joy of being among dear friends and colleagues” and also wrote, “love of the people of Kolkata Thank you all.”
Amitabh Bachchan is back home safely, and recently has celebrated his granddaughter Aaradhya’s 6th birthday. From 65 countries over the week at 12 different venues across country, Kolkata International Film Festival has been screening 144 films.
