Honda India has announced to become the number one brand of people’s favorite brand in more than half of India. The company said in a statement, “Honda is the number one two-wheeler brand in 15 states and two union territories of India, which is 52% of the two-wheeler vehicles sold in the country. In these 17 markets, the entire western region (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa), the entire southern region (Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka) and Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Manipur, Delhi, Nagaland, Uttarakhand and Andaman-Nicobar Islands.
Significantly, Honda has achieved this success in only six years. In 2011, Honda’s leadership was limited to just one state and one Union Territory (Arunachal Pradesh and Goa), which expanded in 2017 and reached 15 states and two union territories.
Minoru Kato, president and chief executive officer of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, said, “Understanding the needs and dreams of today’s consumers, Honda is constantly expanding itself to win the heart of Indian society. We have made rapid investments to deliver quality products to consumers. In just six years, the number of Honda plants has increased from one to four. He said that even in other big states of India, Honda’s sales have risen sharply in last 6 years compared to the two-wheeler industry.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) of the company said, “Honda has changed the way the Indians ride two-wheeler vehicles. Honda today has become the first choice of the progressive state, even the motorized states are also increasingly moving towards the scooter. Scooters have become the fastest growing segment in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.”
The company is also in plans to introduce some new wheels in cruiser segment. It will be quite interesting to see how the consumers respond to the new move.
