The Lagaan actor, Shrivallabh Vyas passed away in Jaipur. The actor was bedridden since the year 2008 after he got a major paralysis attack. At 9.30 am, he breathed his last moment and in the evening, the last rites took place—claimed sources.
He was in Gujarat shooting for a film when he suffered a brain stroke, which was followed by a severe paralytic attack. In the middle of the night, he had fallen in the toilet and was found the next morning in a pool of blood after which he was rushed to the nearby hospital.
Shrivallabh was a former student of the famous National School of Drama. He was known for his fantastic roles he played in movies such as Aan: Men At Work, Sarfarosh, Sardar, Lagaan, and many more. But because of financial crisis, Vyas had to be taken from Mumbai to Jaisalmer. His family was unable to bear the cost of the hospitals in Mumbai and were facing difficulty in paying his hospital bills. When his wife Sobha Vyas approached Cine and TV Artists Association for some financial help, as in every association there is a trust for the actors, she was saddened by the paltry sum that was handed over to her. She refused to take the amount that was given to her by actor Gajendra Chauhan and actor Arun Bali. Actor Irfan Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Amir Khan had backed his family financially and his family was very glad for this.
The acting journey for the veteran actor had started in the year 1984 with a TV drama “Mujho Jawab Do”. He took almost a decade to finally brag a starring role in the movie named “Sunday” that released in the year 1993.
After which it was no looking back for the actor—one after the other he got fantastic roles. It was straight for the next 24 years he played diverse kind of roles, from a banker, doctor, police officer to playing a role of a common villager. He was fabulous in all the roles he played.
The last film in which he had acted was released in 2011 titled called Shagird. The movie was directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia; Nana Patekar was in the lead role where even Anurag Kashyap, the producer-director-actor, was also seen in the movie along with Shrivallabh Vyas.
